Jack Dumsa
Owner, Occupational Therapist

Jack is a board certified and New York State licensed occupational therapist with more than 10 years of experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, and home care. He has worked with all ranges of complexities including clients with neurological, orthopedic, and debility impairments. Prior to homecare, Jack was a senior clinician at
NYU Langone- Brooklyn in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation, and at Mount Sinai Hospital, on the inpatient acquired brain-injury unit.

Jack co-founded Direct Home Therapy with the mission of redefining the expectations of home therapy in New York City. After training and working in the hospital system, it became apparent that the reputation and status of home therapy needed to be upgraded to ensure that clients can continue to improve and have the ability to maximize their functional gains in their home environment.

In the home setting, Jack specializes in home environment modifications, assessment, and caregiver education. Jack believes that the home is the most important setting of rehabilitation. In addition to convenience, home therapy focuses on one’s true functional environment, where we can personalize care to ensure safety concerns are identified and creatively solved to successfully age in place.

Jack graduated from The University Pittsburgh with a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, after receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Minor in Aging and Adult Life from Grand Valley State University.

Outside of therapy, Jack enjoys spending time with his kids and everything music and art related, in addition to exploring New York City on bike to find the latest and greatest the city has to offer.
